The recent wildfires that have burned approximately 15,000 acres in Los Angeles have left many Mexican men and women who worked in the homes that were destroyed by the flames without jobs.

Following these developments, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that assistance would be provided to Mexican nationals to ensure they received the necessary support.
According to data from the Migration Policy Institute, the Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Anaheim metropolitan areas in California have the most prominent Mexican immigrant residents in the United States, totaling 1,478 million people.
Sheinbaum Pardo announced that she has instructed Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente to collaborate with Mexico’s Consul General in Los Angeles, Carlos González Gutiérrez, to create a distinct program through the consular representation.

<i>“I am directing the Foreign Minister to have the Consul in Los Angeles start a special information program to explore how we can support them and ensure they have all the assistance they need.”</i>
She also indicated that instructions have been issued to establish contact with California Governor Gavin Newsom to ensure the aid reaches Mexican nationals.

“This should also encompass those who were especially left without jobs,” the President of Mexico requested.
