Security agents seize more than 15 million liters of fuel in Coahuila

Personnel from the ministries of National Defense and the Navy, the Federal Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection participated in the seizure in coordination with PEMEX and local authorities.

As part of security measures in the state of Coahuila, personnel from the Ministry of National Defense (Defensa), the National Guard (GN), and the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), supported by the Ministry of the Navy (Semar) and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), in coordination with PEMEX physical security and local authorities, seized 129 tanker trucks and 15.48 million liters of fuel in two operations.

In the first operation, in the municipality of Ramos Arizpe, security agents were informed by state police of the presence of several tanker trucks that were apparently abandoned near a railway station, so they approached the scene to verify the situation. At the site, they located 33 tanker trucks with 3.96 million liters of fuel.

In another incident, near a station in Saltillo, 96 tanker trucks were found stranded on the railroad tracks, containing 11.52 million liters of fuel.

In both cases, the units did not have the documents proving their legal transportation of the fuel and its lawful origin, so the facts were reported to the corresponding public prosecutor’s office, which will develop the case file for subsequent investigations.

The location and seizure of the 129 tanker trucks is the largest achieved during the current administration.

With these actions, the institutions that comprise the Security Cabinet reaffirm their commitment to work to prevent the theft and illegal distribution of fuel within the country.
