The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports relevant actions carried out on Wednesday, April 30, 2025

In coordinated actions by the Security Cabinet, arrests, searches, and seizures of firearms and various types of drugs took place in Chihuahua, Colima, Durango, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, and Nayarit

● In Jalisco, National Guard officers found four cardboard boxes containing 24 kilograms of marijuana.

● In Sinaloa, Army troops seized 250 liters of chemical substances, resulting in an estimated financial blow of 5 million pesos to criminal organizations.

● In Sonora, Army and National Guard forces seized a Barrett rifle, a light machine gun, a long gun, a pellet rifle, magazines, 293 cartridges, and a belt of links.

● In Puebla and Oaxaca, Navy personnel and PEMEX secured nine illegal taps: eight connected to the Tuxpan–Azcapotzalco pipeline and one to the Salina Cruz–Minatitlán pipeline.

These actions are part of the National Security Strategy, which includes four key pillars: addressing root causes, consolidating the National Guard, strengthening intelligence and investigation efforts, and coordinating with state authorities.

MEXICO CITY

In the Venustiano Carranza borough, elements of the National Guard, Army, Navy, the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office, and the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security executed two technical investigation orders, seizing 22.3 kilograms of marijuana, 231 doses of cocaine, and two properties.

COLIMA

In Armería, in the town of Cerro de Ortega, Navy and State Police officers seized 220 live cartridges, five magazines, and tactical equipment.

HIDALGO

In Tetepango, elements of the National Guard, Army, Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR), and State Police carried out five technical investigation orders, arresting 15 people and seizing a long gun, 38 cartridges, 755 liters of fuel, five LP gas cylinders, four motorcycles, one ATV, 15 vehicles, and five properties.

JALISCO

In a package delivery company, National Guard personnel found four boxes containing 24 kilograms of marijuana.

MICHOACÁN

In Pátzcuaro, State and Municipal Police seized four pickup trucks.

QUINTANA ROO

In Benito Juárez, Villas Otoch Paraíso neighborhood, officers from the National Guard, Army, Navy, and State Prosecutor’s Office arrested seven individuals. It seized 364 doses of methamphetamine, 27 doses of cocaine, and 131 doses of marijuana.

SINALOA

In Culiacán, National Guard, Army, and FGR agents raided three properties, arresting five people—including a known instigator of violence—and seizing eight long guns, four handguns, a grenade launcher, materials for making improvised explosive devices, one kilogram of methamphetamine, four kilograms of cocaine, 204 fentanyl pills, 10 vehicles, one ATV, and two motorcycles.

The value of the seized drugs is estimated at 1.3 million pesos.

In El Salado and La Concordia, Santa Loreto community, Army troops seized 282 improvised explosive devices under a bridge over a river. An additional nine devices were seized on the El Salto–Villa Unión highway.

SONORA

In Cajeme, State Prosecutor’s Office agents arrested five individuals, including a man suspected of organizing killings of municipal officers and coordinating kidnappings and extortion. Weapons, vehicles, encrypted communication devices, and documents were seized.

In Caborca, the National Guard and Army seized a Barrett rifle, a light machine gun, a long gun, a pellet rifle, magazines, 293 cartridges, and a belt of links.

In Cajeme, during a raid, the Army, Navy, Prosecutor’s Office, and local police rescued a kidnapping victim, arrested seven people, and seized four long guns, 16 magazines, four bulletproof vests, and a vehicle.

In General Plutarco Elías Calles, near the La Nariz ejido, Army and National Guard officers seized 10 improvised explosive devices.

TLAXCALA

In Tlaxco, Navy and State Police found two kidnapping victims and seized a long gun, 30 cartridges, a magazine, and three signal jammers inside two abandoned vehicles.

VERACRUZ

In Cazones de Herrera, in the town of Cruz Blanca, Army and Municipal Police seized two long guns and a vehicle.

Operations against drug production and trafficking

In Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, Army units destroyed 196 opium poppy fields (18 hectares) and 73 marijuana fields (7 hectares).

In Casas Grandes, Elota, Sinaloa, the Army located a meth production site and seized 250 liters of chemical substances. The economic impact on criminal groups is estimated at 5 million pesos.

In San Rafael, Nayarit, Navy personnel, based on intelligence, eradicated three opium poppy fields totaling 15,200 square meters and approximately 304,000 poppy plants.

Strategy to combat fuel theft

As part of the national strategy to combat fuel theft, the Army found five illegal taps: four in Jalisco and one in Hidalgo.

Between April 24 and 30, in Puebla and Oaxaca, Navy and PEMEX officers secured nine illegal taps: eight connected to the Tuxpan–Azcapotzalco pipeline and one to the Salina Cruz–Minatitlán pipeline.

In Jalisco, Guanajuato, and Querétaro, the National Guard and PEMEX Security achieved the following:

They arrested four individuals, located and disabled three illegal taps, seized four tractor-trailers, five barrels, one tank truck, a vehicle, and recovered 175,339 liters of fuel: 123,630 liters of gasoline and 51,709 liters of diesel.

In Santiago de Querétaro, officers stopped two individuals and seized a truck carrying two barrels, recovering 63,339 liters of fuel.

In Villagrán, Guanajuato, forces turned off a sealed illegal tap on the “Tula–Salamanca” pipeline, seized a truck with a barrel, and recovered 27,000 liters of fuel.

Illegal fishing and banned nets

From April 24 to 30, Navy and CONAPESCA personnel seized 5,975 kilograms of marine products and 25 banned fishing nets spanning 13,298 meters.
