The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports on relevant actions carried out on Thursday, April 3, 2025
In coordinated actions, the Security Cabinet carried out arrests, property searches, and seizures of firearms and various types of drugs in Baja California, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Morelos, Nuevo León, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, and Veracruz

● In Baja California, Zacatecas, and the State of Mexico, members of the Mexican Army, the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and State Prosecutor’s Offices incinerated 31 kg of marijuana, 3.5 kg of methamphetamine, 3.3 kg of cocaine, 1 kg of heroin, 1 kg of psychotropic substances, 0.24 liters of marijuana extract, and 23,649 psychotropic pills.

● In Guerrero, members of the Mexican Army, National Guard (GN), the State Prosecutor’s Office, and State Police seized two handguns, magazines, ammunition, various doses of methamphetamine, two motorcycles, and a vehicle. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 474,489 pesos.
● In Nuevo León, members of the Mexican Army and FGR arrested an individual traveling in a vehicle and seized 940 kg of marijuana. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 3.5 million pesos.
● In Sonora, during a bus inspection, members of the Mexican Army and GN arrested two individuals and seized 33 kg of fentanyl, 7.5 kg of heroin, and 1 kg of mannitol. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 275 million pesos.

The Security Cabinet reports these relevant events from April 3, 2025, as part of the National Security Strategy, which is based on four pillars: Addressing root causes, consolidating the National Guard, strengthening intelligence and investigation capabilities, and coordinating with state governments.

BAJA CALIFORNIA
• In Ensenada and Tijuana, members of the Mexican Army, GN, the State Prosecutor’s Office, and State and Municipal Police searched two properties and inspected a courier service business. Three individuals were arrested, and various drug doses and four vehicles were seized.
• In Tijuana, members of the Mexican Army, GN, FGR, Navy (SEMAR), and State and Municipal Police arrested Mario “N,” a member of a criminal group.

CHIHUAHUA
• In Ciudad Juárez, GN and State Police officers arrested a man driving a vehicle and seized 25 kg of marijuana.

MEXICO CITY
• In the Cuauhtémoc district, officers from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) arrested Gael Alexander “N,” a member of a criminal group, and seized a handgun, various drug doses, and cash.
• In the Tlalpan district, members of the Mexican Army, GN, SEMAR, FGR, and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) arrested Leobardo “N,” wanted by the U.S. government for charges related to organized crime, drug trafficking, and violations of federal firearms and explosives laws. A reward of USD 4 million had been offered for his capture due to his ties to fentanyl imports.

GUANAJUATO
• In Celaya, GN officers arrested a man, seized a handgun and two vehicles, and rescued two women who had been held against their will.
• In the municipalities of Valle de Santiago, León, Irapuato, Celaya, and Apaseo el Grande, members of the Mexican Army and GN seized a long gun, ammunition, various drug doses, a vehicle, and a motorcycle.

GUERRERO
• In Acapulco, members of the Mexican Army, GN, the Prosecutor’s Office, and State Police arrested three individuals. They seized two handguns, magazines, ammunition, various doses of methamphetamine, two motorcycles, and a vehicle.
The estimated value of the seized drugs is 474,489 pesos.

MORELOS
• In Cuautla, Puente de Ixtla, Yautepec, Tlaltizapán, and Coatetelco, members of the Mexican Army, GN, SEMAR, and State Police arrested 13 people and seized a long gun, four handguns, a homemade weapon, three ballistic vests, ammunition, 800 grams of fentanyl, various doses of cocaine, 50 grams of methamphetamine, and 1.2 kg of marijuana.
The estimated value of the seized drugs is 7.1 million pesos.

NUEVO LEÓN
• In General Bravo, members of the Mexican Army and FGR arrested an individual driving a vehicle and seized 940 kg of marijuana.
The estimated value of the seized drugs is 3.5 million pesos.

PUEBLA
• In San Miguel Tianguizolco, Huejotzingo, members of SEMAR and the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), acting on intelligence, arrested six individuals and seized three long guns, two handguns, 16 rounds of ammunition, six motorcycles, and a motorized tricycle.

QUINTANA ROO
• In Isla Mujeres, during a hotel raid, State Prosecutor’s Office agents arrested one individual and seized two handguns.
SINALOA
• In Concordia, following intelligence operations, members of the Mexican Army seized two long guns, magazines, two ballistic plates, 180 rounds of ammunition, and tactical equipment.
• In Culiacán, Army members seized a Barrett rifle, another rifle, magazines, and ammunition.
• In a separate action in Culiacán, following intelligence work, Army members seized two long guns, magazines, and ammunition.

SONORA
• In Opodepe, during a bus inspection (from Hermosillo to Nogales), members of the Mexican Army and GN arrested two individuals. They seized 19 kg of fentanyl pills and 1 kg of powdered fentanyl. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 79 million pesos.
• In San Luis Río Colorado, during a bus inspection (from Culiacán, Sinaloa to Ensenada, Baja California), Army and GN members arrested two individuals. They seized 33 kg of fentanyl, 7.5 kg of heroin, and 1 kg of mannitol. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 275 million pesos.

TABASCO
• In Cárdenas, members of the Mexican Army, GN, SEMAR, State Prosecutor’s Office, SSPC, State Police, and Municipal Police arrested two men in a vehicle—including Adrián “N”—and seized a firearm and live ammunition.

VERACRUZ
• In Coscomatepec, Central neighborhood, during a search warrant operation based on intelligence, members of SEMAR, the Mexican Army, GN, State Police, and the State Prosecutor’s Office arrested five individuals. They seized packages and a sack of marijuana, 17 doses of methamphetamine, a blue mortar, two handguns, 146 rounds of ammunition, four magazines, a laser sight, a cell phone, a computer hard drive, a glass pipe, a precision scale, and two tactical vests.

EFFORTS TO CURB DRUG PRODUCTION AND TRAFFICKING
In Chihuahua, Durango, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, members of the Mexican Army and Air Force conducted ground and aerial reconnaissance, locating and destroying 54 opium poppy plantations (four hectares) and 29 marijuana plantations (two hectares).
In Culiacán and Cosalá, members of the Mexican Army located seven drug processing areas and seized 2,568 liters of chemical substances and two organic synthesis reactors.
The estimated value of the seized drugs is 56 million pesos.
In La Paz, Baja California; Fresnillo, Zacatecas; and San Juan Teotihuacán, State of Mexico, members of the Mexican Army, FGR, and State Prosecutor’s Offices incinerated 31 kg of marijuana, 3.5 kg of methamphetamine, 3.3 kg of cocaine, 1 kg of heroin, 1 kg of psychotropic substances, 0.24 liters of marijuana extract, and 23,649 psychotropic pills.

STRATEGY TO COMBAT FUEL THEFT
As part of the Strategy to Combat Fuel Theft, members of the Mexican Army located nine illegal fuel taps—two in Hidalgo and seven in Jalisco.
During inspections along the “Tula-Salamanca” pipeline in Villagrán, Guanajuato, GN members and PEMEX Physical Security located and turned off a hermetically sealed illegal tap, secured a collection site and five 10,000-liter containers (80% complete) and recovered 40,000 liters of fuel.
ILLEGAL CAMERAS
Between March 28 and April 3, members of the Navy removed 187 unauthorized surveillance cameras of various brands and sizes installed illegally in public spaces across several states.
Since the beginning of the current administration, 3,233 irregular cameras have been seized.
