At the book fair's inauguration, Argel Gómez Concheiro, General Director of Major Community Festivals of the Mexico City Department of Culture, and Marina Taibo, a member of the Brigade to Read in Freedom, announced that this edition aims to save over 300,000 books from destruction, a figure based on the number of copies sold at the March sale.

“We are in a city of readers. The Sale, in addition to having a commercial aspect, aims to be a continuous pedagogical process that helps to nurture minds, thoughts, judgment, and life,” said Gómez Concheiro, who revealed that the 18th edition breaks the record with the participation of 208 exhibitors, 35 more than in the previous event. Furthermore, books are offered at prices ranging from 5 to 150 pesos.
