Latinos: 34.5 Million Votes
“Don’t think you have our vote locked in.” Kamala's WhatsApp channel “Latinos con Harris-Walz” has 6,000 followers.
Latinos make up almost 30% of the population in the United States. According to data from the Latinos Donor Collaborative, 34.5 million Latinos are eligible to vote on November 5 in the U.S. elections.

This is the largest non-white community participating in the elections, and their vote is not uniform, meaning that the presidential candidates—Donald Trump for the Republican Party and Kamala Harris for the Democrats—must work to win them over.
“Democrats don’t work hard for our vote because they think they already have it, and Republicans don’t try because they think they’ll never get it,” said Luis De la Hoz, president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, in an interview with El Heraldo USA.
The reason why part of the Hispanic community supports the Republican Party is largely for two reasons: first, due to religious beliefs, which include opposition to abortion; and second, because if you're Hispanic and have done well economically, you’ll do even better, as “the decisions Republicans make are more favorable to those who earn more, not to the general population,” he explained.

De la Hoz sent a message to the candidates: “Don’t feel like you have our vote locked in… you have to go out and fight for it.”

In this way, the Latino community can use better leverage to determine who is best suited to lead the nation where they live, work, and pay taxes.
The Hispanic community leader, who has been guiding and motivating this group in entrepreneurship and economic empowerment for more than a decade, urges all eligible voters to cast their ballots in an informed manner and with the well-being of the Latino population in mind.
“We Latinos have the ability to decide who should govern us. We have a more informed vote. We must motivate our children to participate in elections because as more Hispanics vote, more resources and efforts will be dedicated to our benefit.”
“Latinos can decide an election because every vote counts,” he emphasized.
Kamala’s “Latinos con Harris-Walz” Channel
As part of her campaign for the U.S. presidency, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris launched a WhatsApp channel to reach Latino voters. The channel, named “Latinos con Harris-Walz,” already has 6,000 followers just three weeks after its launch.
The Hispanic community is one of the most frequent users of this app for communication and news sharing. According to a Pew Research Center report published this year, 54% of Hispanic adults use WhatsApp, compared to 31% of Black adults and even lower percentages among whites (20%).
When joining the “Latinos con Harris-Walz” community, the channel’s introductory message acknowledges that the Latino community is the fastest-growing in the United States and is crucial for the upcoming election on November 5.
