To understand the academic's health status, we have to go back to June 2023, when the activist and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) suffered a massive stroke that left him with serious health problems, including difficulties in speaking and moving. The news of his death was initially disseminated by the magazine Jacobin, which was cited by other international media. Later, the publications of the news were deleted.
The academic's close circle has shared a brief conversation with the professor's wife, Valery Chomsky, who informed that the 95-year-old author is improving and recovering after being hospitalized for a stroke.

Who is Noam Chomsky?
Born in Philadelphia on December 7, 1928, to a family of Russian and Ukrainian Jewish immigrants, he developed an interest in social issues due to his father William Chomsky, a scholar of the Hebrew language. From his youth, he delved into the fields of philosophy and linguistics.

In the late fifties, during the Cold War, Chomsky began to gain prominence thanks to his publication titled "Syntactic Structures," where he proposed a critique of what was understood as the language acquisition model, based on the principles of structuralism and behaviorist psychology.

But his role as an activist and critic of power made him more visible in public opinion. Like other young people of his generation, he was a voice that questioned the United States' intervention in Vietnam. One of his most notable publications is "The Responsibility of Intellectuals," where he pointed out that social scientists and academics were developing a culture of thought subordinate to power.
His debate with Michel Foucault on power and justice remains a favorite video among Social Science students to understand the contemporary world.
